A 2017 study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that those housed in correctional institutions are 6.4 times more likely to suffer from a food-related illness relative to the general population. As an alternative to the food served in chow hall, people in prison develop their own recipes. These are stories about food in prison, including prison meals, recipes and celebrations.
