If you devised a system, it would benefit you
and so the system they devised was built to benefit who?
Imagine plotting the demise of the innocent youth
by planting lies in their minds and omitting the truth.
Is it a sign of the times or is it nothing new
where if you’re blind and misguided, people listen to you?
If high-class bypassed you, then prison’s for you.
We live fast, die faster, but still in a zoo.
We’ve made cash our masters, what’s frivolous cool,
rappers our pastors, and prisons our schools.
So we have a special relationship with rhythm and blues.
Wonder when will we ever make amends and get in the groove
to have the world at large take us in and give us some room?
But if it did it’d probably usher in our impending doom
though I’d make an ass of us all if I began to assume.
