Thoughts in mind, of meaning I seek to find,
Memories of a past,
Of a mentally projected place,
A place that the menace of time slowly threatens to erase.
I see you there,
Ever so clear,
And oh so fair.
The feeling I get,
When I remember the feeling I felt,
Of your presence next to mine.
As the vision of your beauty begins to fade,
This feeling has lasted over the test of troubled time.
Like a fool I stare off,
Gazing at a mirage, dancing in a haze.
I know what can never be again,
I understand the necessity of the parting of ways.
I leave my heart there,
In the past, and under your care,
When I look to the distance,
Finding forever, ever so near.
It is your love I wish to have,
Your voice I long to hear.
Never again,
As once,
Shall ever be no more,
Like trying to hold the rain,
While standing in the sun,
After the storm.
