According to the National Resource Center on Children & Families of the Incarcerated, approximately 10 million children have had a parent who was incarcerated at some point in their lives. About 44 to 55% of fathers and 64 to 84% of mothers had at least one minor child living with them before incarceration. These are stories that touch on families, including parenting behind bars and maintaining family bonds while incarcerated.
