Grief & Isolation
Grief and isolation often go hand-in-hand behind prison walls. Incarceration disconnects people from their community and loved ones. The resulting emotional isolation often leads to intense grief over the loss of the life the incarcerated person thought they would have. Incarcerated individuals are almost always unable to show vulnerability and often struggle with guilt for not being able to be there in the last moments. These are stories and reflections about isolation, grief, and the connection between the two during incarceration.
