CHICAGO, Mar. 20, 2025 – Prison Journalism Project (PJP), a national nonprofit that trains incarcerated writers in the tools of journalism and publishes their stories, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership to offer its training materials through Edovo, which delivers tablet-based educational, vocational, and rehabilitative curricula to incarcerated individuals in the United States.
PJP’s training is grounded in literacy and workforce readiness skill-building. As part of the partnership, it will distribute its educational newspaper PJP Inside as well as a multimedia introductory reporting and writing course through Edovo’s platform, which reaches one million learners in over 1,200 prisons and jails nationwide – representing 50% of people incarcerated in the United States.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Edovo, an organization that shares our conviction in the transformative power of education for incarcerated people,” said Shaheen Pasha, PJP co-founder and Chief Education Officer. “Many people in prison want to share their stories and get published, and this partnership will allow exponentially more people to learn how to craft engaging stories that shed light on life in prison while also gaining skills that can help them when they come home.”
Edovo’s content, which is intended to build literacy and workforce development skills that are foundational for the success of incarcerated individuals, is available to incarcerated people for free.
“We are honored to partner with PJP to expand educational opportunities behind bars,” said Brian Hill, Founder and CEO of Edovo. “Education leads to transformation, and this collaboration will significantly benefit tens of thousands of incarcerated individuals through enhanced, tailored educational programming at no cost.”
